Write for us

The Screen Lantern welcomes considered pitches about films and series: pieces that help a reader notice how a story works or choose a more rewarding way to watch. Send proposals through the Contact page.

What to pitch

We are interested in focused essays and practical viewing pieces about story structure, screencraft, genre, adaptation, or the rhythms of watching. A good pitch names its central question, explains what the reader will take away, and shows why the subject suits this publication.

How to shape a proposal

Include a working title, a short description of the argument or approach, the relevant film or series, and a brief account of your connection to the subject. Tell us if the piece includes spoilers, and where they become important. Please propose original work and flag any existing publication or commercial interests related to it.

Sending a pitch

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to send your proposal. A pitch is not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before preparing a full draft.
